Central Heating Power Flush

The Brief

The customer got in touch because their radiators were taking a long time to heat up and parts of the system were staying cold. Classic symptoms of years of sludge build-up in the pipework, radiators and heat exchanger, and a fault on the boiler side that needed sorting at the same time.

What We Did

• System inspection: checked flow and return temperatures at each radiator to identify how bad the sludge and debris were, and where the worst blockages sat.
• Full power flush: connected a power-flushing pump to the system and cycled cleaner through every radiator and the boiler heat exchanger to remove years of sludge and debris.
• Magnetic filter clean: stripped and cleaned the existing magnetic system filter so it was ready to catch anything left over.
• Faulty PRV replaced: swapped out a failing pressure relief valve that was letting the system down.
• Fresh inhibitor added: re-dosed the system with the correct amount of inhibitor to protect against future corrosion and sludge.
• Final test and handover: refilled, pressurised and rebalanced the radiators, then confirmed the system was running clean and quiet.

The Result

Much more efficient heating with improved circulation throughout the property. Every radiator now heats evenly, the boiler runs quieter and more efficiently, and the system is protected against future sludge with fresh inhibitor and a clean magnetic filter in place.
